Meet our charity of the year: the Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum

Whilst there might be other marketing conferences around, we’re proud of one very important aspect that sets the Nottingham Digital Summit apart.
Every year, the Nottingham Digital Summit raises thousands of pounds for charity, with proceeds from the event going to our charity of the year.
So, with the Nottingham Digital Summit on the horizon, we are very proud to announce that our charity of the year is the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum.
Our charity of the year
The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum is an independent charity that was set up in 2000 to support refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Offering practical advice, information and also campaigning on issues affecting the community, the charity runs multiple projects in aid of refugees and asylum seekers, such as their anti-destitution project, which focuses on helping refused asylum seekers with their immediate needs such as food and disposable income.
Barbara Dhliwayo, Volunteer Manager at the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum, said: “We greatly appreciate Hallam’s efforts in raising awareness of the issues faced by refugees and asylum seekers, particularly the vulnerable children and families who now call Nottingham their new home. The funds received from this event will help us provide advice and support to dozens of families, ensure children and their parents have access to a wide range of services, as well as offer educational and socialising activities for women and children.”

With their core mission to support asylum seekers and refugees in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in gaining just outcomes, rebuilding their lives and integrating into society, the NNRF work hard to achieve this by providing a welcoming community centre, offering professional, impartial advice and support services and delivering programmes to develop confidence, skills and knowledge.
Jake Third, Managing Director at Hallam, said: “We are thrilled to be able to get involved with the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum and to support all of the hard work that they do. Our goal is to raise as much as we can in aid of the NNRF for all the services that they provide and we’re thankful to our sponsors and event attendees who make this donation possible.”
Back in 2019, our delegates donated over £20,000 for the Nottingham Samaritans and, in 2018, we donated more than £15,000 to housing association charity, Framework. Our goal is to beat that this year in aid of NNRF, but we can only do so with your support. Click here if you’re interested in our various sponsorship packages.
