Bringing together leaders in marketing, creative and tech, the 2019 Nottingham Digital Summit will be taking place on 3rd July, all in aid of Hallam’s charity of the year, Samaritans of Nottingham – a charity that can help people before it’s too late.
Each day, around 16 people take their life in the UK and Ireland and according to their website statistics. With suicide being the biggest killer of young people aged 20-34 and men under 50, the work Samaritans do is vital. The Samaritans respond to a call for help every six seconds.
They are there to listen with no judgment or pressure, to help people work through what’s on their mind, whether that’s face to face, over email or with their free telephone support service that is available around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Their mission is to make sure there’s someone there for anyone who needs someone and to create a world where fewer people die by suicide, but with over 5 million calls for help every year, they can’t do it alone.
A significant fundraising event this year will be the Nottingham Digital Summit, organised by Hallam, where all proceeds will be donated to the Samaritans of Nottingham – last year, the Summit raised an incredible £15,280 for Framework Housing Association.
Hallam has also previously supported the Samaritans with fundraising activities and members of our team are active volunteers. This year we’re proud to have selected the Nottingham Samaritans as our charity of the year, aiming to help it in its mission of saving lives through fundraising, digital marketing support and awareness raising.
The Nottingham organisation is one of 201 Samaritans branches across the UK and Ireland and is locally funded. All money raised by Hallam will go directly to the Nottingham branch and, as a Nottingham-based business, we’re delighted to support a charity that will make a real difference in the local community. Every donation is vital for the work they do and you can support them and attend the summit by booking your ticket here.
The Samaritans can give anyone who is struggling a safe place to talk anytime they like, in their own way, about whatever is on their mind. Anyone who needs their help can reach them at 116 123. If you’d like to find out more about the work they do, visit https://www.samaritans.org/
